BTN News: The Hashemite Court is filled with joy as it announces the birth of a new princess. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa have welcomed their first daughter, a little over a year after their beautiful wedding. This is a big moment for the royal family. King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan are now grandparents for the first time. The Hashemite Royal Court shared a sweet video of Prince Hussein holding his newborn daughter, Princess Iman Bint Al Hussein. She is named after her aunt, the second daughter of King Abdullah and Queen Rania.
Queen Rania shared her happiness with a heartfelt message to the new parents. She wrote, “Praise be to God for His greatest blessings. You have lit up our lives with a granddaughter. Congratulations Hussein and Rajwa, may God fill your lives with blessings and joy.” King Abdullah also expressed his joy, saying, “Praise be to God who has given us our first granddaughter, Iman Bint Al Hussein. Congratulations to my dear Hussein and Rajwa on their baby girl.” The royal family has also asked that any gifts for the baby be donated to an orphan foundation in Amman. This shows their dedication to helping others.
The palace confirmed the good news on April 10th with a statement: “The Hashemite Royal Court is pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein are expecting their first child this summer.” Since then, Princess Rajwa has only made a few public appearances. She was seen shopping for the baby and posed for official portraits for their first wedding anniversary. She also attended an important event for children just before giving birth on July 17th.
In a recent interview with Al Arabiya, Crown Prince Hussein talked about his life as a married man and a soon-to-be father. He said, “I’ve changed for the better. Finding my life partner has been a great blessing. Marriage has brought me peace. We are excited about this new chapter; everything changes with children. My family is also thrilled, and my mother (Queen Rania) has already started buying things. It’s beautiful.”
The royal couple’s wedding on June 1, 2023, was a grand event. It brought together royals from around the world, including King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands with their eldest daughter, Princess Amalia, and the Prince and Princess of Wales. Since their marriage, Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa have been active in various public engagements. They even made an international visit to Singapore in January for the launch of the Technological Alliance Forum between the two countries.
At 29 years old, Prince Hussein has become a strong support for his father. He is a direct descendant of the 42nd generation of the Prophet Muhammad and serves as a captain in the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army. He graduated from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK, where many heads of state, princes, and kings, including his father and younger sister Princess Salma, have studied. He also holds a degree in International History from Georgetown University. He was appointed as the heir apparent at fifteen and has built a strong friendship with Prince William of England.
Princess Rajwa, also 29, is set to follow in Queen Rania’s footsteps. She was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and comes from a family of sheikhs from the Subai tribe. Her maternal family belongs to the Al Sudairi clan, which is closely linked to the current Saudi monarch. Rajwa has three older siblings, Faissal, Mayef, and Dana. She received her education in Saudi Arabia before moving to New York to study architecture at Syracuse University, the same institution attended by Queen Noor of Jordan.
As Jordan celebrates the birth of its newest princess, the nation looks forward to the contributions that Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa will continue to make in their public roles. Their journey as parents begins with love, joy, and the promise of a bright future for their daughter, Princess Iman Bint Al Hussein. This new chapter in their lives is filled with hope and happiness, and the royal family is excited about the future.
