BTN News: JetBlue has started its new Mint service at the Luis Muñoz MarÃn International Airport (SJU) in Isla Verde. This service brings a new level of comfort and convenience to passengers. The premium service has seats that turn into beds, personalized menus, and 15-inch screens. It aims to make travel better for people flying between San Juan and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). With this launch, JetBlue shows its strong commitment to Puerto Rico, a market it has served since 2000.
JetBlue’s Daily Flight to New York Now Offers Luxurious Mint Experience
Héctor Camacho, JetBlue’s General Manager in Puerto Rico, said that Mint will be available on a daily flight between SJU and JFK. The flight is on an Airbus A321 with over 150 seats, including 16 Mint seats. These premium seats offer a special option for travelers. “Mint is usually used for flights over five hours, but we decided to bring it to San Juan due to our growth and customer needs,” Camacho explained in an interview with El Nuevo DÃa.
Mint Seats Offer Comfort and Entertainment for a Better Flight Experience
The Mint service includes double seats and private suites, as seen during a tour of the plane. Each seat can change positions, including one that turns it into a bed. Passengers can use this feature to sleep or enjoy movies, TV shows, and meditation programs on the touch screen. JetBlue also provides a pillow and a travel kit in reusable bags made by Caraa to enhance the comfort of the flight.
JetBlue’s Mint Service Features Delicious Hot Meals and Vegetarian Options
Mint’s food options include hot meals with vegetarian choices. These meals are created by popular New York restaurants like Legacy Records, Charlie Bird, and Pasquale Jones from Delicious Hospitality Group (DHG). The price for Mint class tickets varies based on demand, with current summer prices over $700.
JetBlue’s Mint Service Success in Other Markets Brings Hope for San Juan’s Market
Camacho talked about the success of Mint in other markets. It started with coast-to-coast routes from New York to Los Angeles and San Francisco. It has also expanded to Caribbean destinations like Barbados. “This new service will improve JetBlue’s position in Puerto Rico,” he added. JetBlue has a big market share at SJU, which is 22%, according to Aerostar Airport Holdings.
JetBlue Expands Its Presence in Puerto Rico with Mint Service and New Crew Base
JetBlue also flies to Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN) in Aguadilla and Mercedita Airport (PSE) in Ponce. Camacho is hopeful that Mint will be popular in San Juan, just as it has been in other places.
Crystal Bell, Director of Air and Maritime Access at the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR), thinks Mint makes Puerto Rico more attractive to travelers. “Mint gives more choices to business travelers. Having JetBlue offer this service gives Puerto Rico a competitive edge,” she said.
JetBlue’s New Crew Base at San Juan Airport Will Create Many Jobs and Economic Benefits
JetBlue is also moving forward with plans to open a crew base at SJU by the end of the year. Camacho said they have started hiring and will soon do interviews. The new base will create 445 jobs, including 120 pilots and 325 crew members. This will bring an economic impact of over $50 million in salaries. An additional 80 technical operation jobs will also be created.
The crew base will be in the new space at Terminal A, where JetBlue now operates. “Many crew members will be coming back home to San Juan, having worked with us in New York or Boston,” Camacho noted.
With these new developments, JetBlue continues to strengthen its presence in Puerto Rico. They are offering better services and helping the local economy.
