Israel Intensifies Attacks Across Gaza Strip, Killing Over 20 Palestinians in Devastating Airstrikes

BTN News:In the early hours of Sunday, the Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes targeting various locations across the Gaza Strip, resulting in a devastating toll on the Palestinian population. The attacks, which struck residential areas in the north, center, and south of the besieged enclave, claimed the lives of nearly twenty individuals, including several children, according to Palestinian sources. These relentless bombings have added to the already staggering death toll in Gaza, underscoring the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the severe impact on civilians, particularly those trapped in refugee camps and densely populated areas.

In the northern Jabalia refugee camp, established by the United Nations in 1948 for Palestinians displaced during the Nakba, at least four people lost their lives when Israeli warplanes targeted two apartments. Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that rescue teams were still combing through the rubble in search of survivors or additional victims. This camp, a symbol of the long-standing refugee crisis, has once again become a site of tragedy amid the unrelenting violence.

The situation in central Gaza was equally dire. In the city of Deir el Balah, another four Palestinians were killed when Israeli forces attacked a residential house on the southern outskirts. Meanwhile, in the eastern part of Khan Yunis, a mother and her child perished after their home, belonging to the Musbbeh family, was bombed. These incidents highlight the indiscriminate nature of the strikes, which continue to decimate civilian life and infrastructure.

The horror extended further as seven more lives were claimed in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Among the dead were three children, victims of an airstrike on a residential tower. Al Jazeera reported on this tragedy, though its broadcast is censored in Israel, limiting the flow of information about the true extent of the devastation.

According to the Israeli military, operations by the 98th division continued in both Deir el Balah and Khan Yunis, where they reportedly destroyed rocket launchers and various weapons, including explosive grenades and Kalashnikov rifles. In Rafah, located in the southern part of Gaza, Israeli forces claimed to have eliminated around twenty militants, both above and below ground, over the past 24 hours, as per a military statement released today.

The conflict, which has now persisted for 317 consecutive days, shows no signs of abating. The death toll among Palestinians has soared past 40,000, with Israel pressing on with its military campaign despite the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering a halt to what it described as a genocidal offensive in Rafah. The humanitarian situation is dire, with at least 10,000 Palestinians missing, presumed dead beneath the rubble, and more than 92,500 wounded. Nearly two million people across the Gaza Strip have been forcibly displaced, left without safe havens as the violence rages on.

The ongoing conflict has created a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with civilians bearing the brunt of the relentless military operations. The international community continues to call for an end to the violence, urging all parties to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict. However, as the death toll climbs and the displacement crisis deepens, the prospects for peace remain grim, leaving millions of Palestinians trapped in a cycle of suffering and despair.
