BTN News: Arantxa del Sol and Ángel Cristo Jr.’s relationship was one of the most talked-about stories of the recent edition of Supervivientes. Initially appearing as friends, their bond soon turned into one of the show’s biggest conflicts. After months away from television, Arantxa returned to share her side of the story and reunite with Ángel Cristo Jr., the son of Bárbara Rey.
On Friday, Arantxa sat down on the set of De Viernes, hosted by Beatriz Archidona and Santi Acosta, to address all the questions surrounding her and Ángel’s relationship. The pair entered Supervivientes as friends, but their relationship ended after a heated argument. Following her elimination as the seventh contestant, Arantxa revealed what had transpired between them: “I insulted him, using the same harsh adjectives he used, like parasite and leech. In a moment of anger, I even slapped him and told him, ‘enough.’ I was very upset, and that’s all. If it had been serious, I would have been kicked out of the show much earlier.” Due to these admissions, Mediaset decided to remove her from the show’s debates.
After 68 days out of the spotlight, Arantxa broke her silence, explaining that she was furious with Ángel because, after her first elimination, Kike Calleja told her on the exiles’ beach that Ángel had called her “a disappointing survivor who didn’t deserve to stay in the competition and was so weak that even her husband had to call to ask for her to be taken care of.”
Arantxa also recounted the infamous boat incident: “When I saw him on the boat after hearing what I heard, I lost my temper. He said things like, ‘your show is in my hands, Finita.’ He said things I can hardly repeat. It was the biggest betrayal I’ve experienced on television. I regret my actions because I’m not an aggressive person.”
Arantxa further revealed that Blanca Manchón told her Ángel was spreading details about the relationship between Ana Herminia and Finito de Córdoba: “It was very unpleasant for me. These two people were planning to make money by talking about the alleged relationship between my husband and her on TV shows.” During the interview, Ángel Cristo Jr. entered the set, greeting his former co-star cordially. They then discussed their relationship and what had happened between them. Arantxa asserted her unwavering trust in her partner, dismissing any doubts about his loyalty: “I’ve never been jealous of Ana Herminia.”
Ángel took the opportunity to apologize: “Of course, I apologize if I hurt you. I said unfortunate things because I was angry. When you returned, I was genuinely happy because I felt very alone in the competition, and I had a special bond with you. I’m truly sorry. I was very hurt because you called me mentally ill.” Arantxa denied ever saying those words to him.
Before the interview concluded, Arantxa assured she had no problem apologizing: “I was wrong. I’ve paid the price for my actions. I didn’t expect the welcome I got, and today they tell me we’re going to recap SV, and I find myself in the same situation.” It was a tense moment, and Arantxa couldn’t hold back her tears. Ángel expressed his regret, saying: “I’ll set aside the boat incident because I don’t want it to haunt you. I want people to remember that you went from less to more. You ended up as one of the strongest and were a great survivor.” The two then embraced emotionally, putting an end to their disputes.
