BTN News: The President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Josep Rull, has decided to postpone the previously scheduled round of consultations, originally set for Monday, to the following Tuesday. These consultations are crucial as they precede the formal call for the investiture of the PSC candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa. This decision came after Rull encountered scheduling conflicts with ERC, necessitating the delay.
The revised schedule indicates that the consultations will commence at 9:30 AM on Tuesday. The sessions will begin with the Socialist group, followed by ERC and the Comuns, the parties anticipated to support Illa. The sequence will then continue with the other parties in descending order of their parliamentary representation: Junts, PP, Vox, CUP, and AC. These meetings are set to take place in the audience office of the Parliament.
This adjustment follows Rull’s initial plan to hold the consultations on Monday. However, logistical issues with ERC prompted the one-day postponement. After the consultations conclude, Rull is expected to hold a press conference to update on the outcomes of these crucial discussions.
This marks the second round of consultations Rull has called since the May 12 elections. The first round occurred on June 18 and 19, during which no candidate emerged to present themselves for investiture. This ongoing process underscores the complexities and negotiations involved in Catalonia’s political landscape, with various parties navigating alliances and support to establish a viable government. The outcome of these consultations could significantly impact the region’s political trajectory, especially with Salvador Illa’s candidacy hanging in the balance.
