Cuban Challenger Secures World Title Fight After Canelo Stripped

BTN News: After the International Boxing Federation (IBF) took away Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez’s super middleweight title, a new fight has been set up. William Scull and Vladimir Shishkin will now battle for the vacant title. Both fighters are represented by big promotion companies: AGON Sports for Scull and Salita Promotions for Shishkin. They are working hard to finalize the details of the fight. They must reach an agreement by August 27 to avoid a purse bid. This means the fight is very important and needs to be settled soon.

Scull, a boxer from Cuba, is very excited about this chance. He has always dreamed of becoming a world champion. “We are already winning. We couldn’t face Canelo, but the Federation has treated me very well. I aim for the world title. I am very happy. One comes out with the dream of fighting for a title. Respecting my rival, I believe I can win,” he said. This shows his determination and belief that he can win the title.

Canelo, who was the first champion to hold all four major belts in the super middleweight division, will still defend his other titles. He will fight Edgar Berlanga from Puerto Rico on September 14 in Las Vegas. But since the IBF title is now vacant, it will go to the winner of the fight between Scull and Shishkin.

Scull is training hard in Mallorca, Spain, for this big fight. He is waiting for the final date to be confirmed. He hopes the fight will be on September 14 in Las Vegas. However, there are other possible locations in Europe, such as Spain or Germany. But AGON Sports prefers the fight to be in Las Vegas or another major city in the US. This is because it would get more attention and be more exciting.

In a recent interview, Scull said that an agreement had been made between AGON Sports and Team Canelo. But he did not know all the details. The agreement could have included a direct fight, a step-aside fee to fight Berlanga, or vacating the title. In the end, Canelo decided not to defend the IBF title, which made it possible for Scull and Shishkin to fight for it.

Shishkin has an impressive record of 16 wins and no losses, with 10 wins by knockout. He has been interested in fighting Scull for a long time. This fight will be very important for both fighters. They have both worked very hard to get to this point. Scull talked about his journey from Cuba and his dream of becoming a champion. He has made many sacrifices and worked very hard. “Each one has their story, but to get to this point, a lot has been left behind. There has been sacrifice, hard work. It has been difficult, but now the opportunity has come. By doing things right along the way, good things happen. The moment has come. I left Cuba with this dream of becoming a champion. Whoever the opponent is, it happens to be the Russian, and we are going to keep making history,” Scull said.
