New Airline Route Connects Central Florida and San Juan

BTN News: Avelo Airlines will soon start a new direct flight route between Lakeland Linder International Airport in Florida and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This will be the first direct connection between Lakeland and San Juan. It will give travelers more options. The route will begin on October 26 and will run all year on Wednesdays and Saturdays with a Boeing 737-800 plane. Carlos Mercado Santiago, who is the head of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR), said this new route shows Avelo’s commitment to Puerto Rico. Since Avelo started its first route to the island on November 15 last year, travelers have welcomed it warmly. The CTPR said the new route will help the local economy by about $5.5 million. Also, this third flight to the island will add 19,656 seats in its first year. Avelo also flies to Puerto Rico from Wilmington, Delaware, and New Haven, Connecticut.
