Joe Manganiello Shares His Secrets to Staying in Top Shape at 47

BTN News: At 47, Joe Manganiello is in the best shape of his life. The ‘True Blood’ actor recently shared that last year he surpassed all his personal records in weightlifting and continues to grow stronger, emphasizing that age is merely a number. In an interview with Men’s Journal, Joe expressed his surprise and pride in his achievements, saying, “I didn’t expect to do it. It was like, ‘Holy crap, I’m doing this.’ It was the biggest of my life. I constantly hear people complain: ‘Well, I’m 37, it’s over.’ I say, ‘Man, I’m 47. I can do anything better than ever.'”

Joe credits his success in weightlifting and his impressive physique to the hard work he has put in with his trainer, Ron Mathews, and a nutritionist who previously worked for NASA. This dedicated team has played a pivotal role in his fitness journey. Joe explained, “They take 10 vials of blood, and three weeks later you get 26 pages of results. It tells you exactly what you should eat, what I’m designed to eat.”

From the early days of his Hollywood career, Joe has always prioritized investing in himself. He recalled, “My first year on ‘True Blood’ I lived off my savings. I wasn’t paid much in the first season, and I invested it all in my trainer and a publicist. I didn’t have the money to spend on Hugh Jackman’s trainer, right? But I made it happen.”

Joe’s dedication to his physical health is so strong that he even modified his home gym to maximize his workout potential. He told Men’s Health, “When we moved, I met with the contractors to figure out how much space I had to go up or down. It turned out I could go up 30 cm. Just enough to do a good bench press. You can squat, lower the weights… You can do whatever you want.”
