Inside Story of Juan Ruiz de Rato’s TV Debut and Future Plans

BTN News: Although he has remained out of the media spotlight and chosen a different path from his famous father, Juan Ruiz de Rato, the son of bullfighting legend Juan Antonio Ruiz ‘Espartaco’ and Patricia Rato, is making a significant gesture that underscores the importance of the bullfighting world in his life. For the first time, Juan has stepped in front of the cameras for “Generación T,” a monthly program on One Toro presented by Berenice Lobatón. The show delves into the personal side of bullfighters through unique encounters with special guests.

At 22, Juan is focusing on his future after studying pharmacy and has no plans to pursue a television career beyond his appearance on this program. The show is hosted by Berenice Lobatón, the daughter of renowned journalists Paco Lobatón and Mari Pau Domínguez. Although Juan isn’t drawn to television, he was excited to contribute to a sector that means so much to him, sharing this experience with Manuel Escribano, a close family friend and the featured guest on the episode airing on July 21.

Manuel Escribano, who is in a relationship with Laura Sánchez, as reported by ¡HOLA!, shares a deep friendship with Espartaco, which extends to his children. “Sharing the stage with them is a dream. Their friendship is a divine gift,” Manuel remarked, alongside a photo with legendary bullfighter Curro Romero. This close relationship was evident in 2022 when Juan Antonio accompanied Manuel to Lima, where he headlined one of the main events at the Feria del Señor de los Milagros.

During his first television appearance, Juan will also meet Triana Ramos, a young flamenco dancer who works with Rosalía. Triana handled the choreography for Rosalía’s Motomami tour and created the acclaimed dance routines for hits like “Con Altura” and “Despechá” at the Latin Grammys. Adding to the event’s allure is the presence of Chimy Ávila, an Argentine footballer from Betis, who has supported Manuel Escribano in some of his most challenging bullfights.

Juan’s Professional Aspirations in Healthcare

This past spring, Juan’s dedication and hard work culminated in earning a degree in Pharmacy with an International Pharmaceutical Certificate from the University of Navarra. It was an unforgettable day, celebrated with his family’s support, with his sisters Alejandra and Isabella proudly calling themselves “proud sisters” upon seeing Juan achieve his dream. Juan now faces a new challenge: pursuing a doctoral thesis in biotechnology.

Since enrolling at the University of Navarra in 2019, Juan has shown a strong desire to learn. He has balanced his studies with internships at pharmacies in Seville and Pamplona, worked as a research and development lab technician, and participated in various volunteer activities. “We are fortunate to be at a pivotal moment in healthcare transformation. While I may not discover the cure for cancer, I hope to contribute to something that positively changes our world and endures,” he stated in an interview with his faculty.
