BTN News: Navies from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay are working together in the Acrux XI river exercise. This event happens every two years on the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway. On July 12, ships from foreign navies arrived at the Buenos Aires Naval Station. The exercise, Acrux XI, started on July 15 with planning meetings. After this, the exercise moved to the Zárate Naval Base, where Marine Infantry joined in. The main part of the exercise happened on Wednesday in the Ibicuy area of Entre RÃos province.
Important Ships and Units from Different Countries are Participating
The Brazilian Navy brought several ships, including the logistical support ship Potengi, the Paraguassu, the patrol vessel Piratini, and the hospital ship Tenente Maximiano. This hospital ship will stay at the Zárate Naval Base. From Uruguay, the coast guard vessels RÃo Negro and RÃo Yaguaron and the tugboat Maldonado are taking part.
Argentina’s Navy has many units involved. These include the patrol ship ARA King, with soldiers from the 3rd Marine Infantry Battalion on board.
