BTN News: On Friday, President Joe Biden said he is ready to run for re-election in November. He spoke at a campaign event in Detroit, Michigan. Biden, 81, wanted to clear up worries about his age and if he is fit for the job. “I promise you, I’m fine,” he told the crowd. He said he is ready to keep being president and does not see any other good candidates. Biden talked about his long career, saying, “I was the second youngest man elected to the U.S. Senate. Now, I’m not too old. Hopefully, with a little age comes a little wisdom.”
Biden’s comments were reported by CNN. He said that former President Donald Trump, his main rival, is not a good choice. He said that leaders need to be ethical and decent. “At this moment, I believe the alternative (Donald Trump) is not a great alternative,” he said. Biden asked Americans to remember their country’s values. He described the United States as hopeful, decent, and honorable.
Biden defended his choice to run again and was confident he could win. “Fourteen million Democrats like you voted for me in the primaries. You chose me as the candidate, no one else. Not the press, not the experts, not the donors. You, the voters, decided, no one else, and I’m not going anywhere,” he said firmly. “I’m running, and we are going to win.”
Biden Shares Plans for Second Term and Criticizes Trump’s Ideas
In his speech, Biden shared his plans for the first 100 days if he gets a second term. He criticized Trump’s ‘Project 2025.’ This plan includes big cuts to federal agencies and mass deportations. Biden also talked about recent criticisms of his mistakes when speaking. He said he would focus on showing people Trump’s ideas: “From now on, everything will revolve around Trump,” he said. He called Trump a “loser.”
Biden showed his strong will. He said only “over (his) dead body” would he let Trump get a second term and act like a dictator. This statement came as Biden faced more criticism from Republicans and Democrats. This followed Biden’s poor performance in a recent debate and his public mistakes. These mistakes included confusing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a NATO summit. He also mixed up Vice President Kamala Harris with Trump during a press conference. These errors led nearly twenty Democratic lawmakers to ask him to stop his campaign.
Despite the criticism and pressure from his party, Biden remains firm. He told voters he believes in his ability to lead. He plans to continue his campaign with the support of those who elected him. As the election gets closer, Biden is still confident about his chances. He continues to gather support and share his ideas for America’s future.
