Bright Times News: Veteran actor Arun Bali passed away on Friday morning at his home in a suburb of Mumbai. He was best known for his roles in the successful movies 3 Idiots and the TV series Swabhimaan. He was 79.
Ankush, Bali’s son, revealed that his father was hospitalized earlier this year for Myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune condition marked by a breakdown in nerve-muscle communication. Ankush reported that although his father was benefiting from the medication, he passed away at around 4.30 am.
“Dad abandoned us. His condition, myasthenia gravis, was present. He was indecisive for two to three days. After telling the caretaker he needed to use the restroom, he said he would want to sit down and never got up “He spoke to PTI.
As the famous actor Shah Rukh Khan’s uncle in the TV series Doosra Keval, Bali made his acting debut. He later appeared in other programs such as the historical drama Chanakya, Swabhimaan, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, and P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke.
Saugandh, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Khalnayak, Satya, Hey Ram, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, Ready, Barfi, Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath, Samrat Prithviraj, and Laal Singh Chaddha are a few of his well-known films.
In the contentious and critically praised 2000 movie Hey Ram, he played Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, the Chief Minister of the then-undivided Bengal. He has starred in several highly regarded and financially successful movies, such as Maasoom, Phool Aur Angaar, Khalnayak, Yalgaar, and Satya. Over time, he gained notoriety for his “grandfatherly” parts, such as Harshvardhan Wadhwa in the well-known Hindi daily soap Kumkum.
His roles in Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, Barfi!, PK, Airlift, Baaghi, Baaghi 2, Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath, Panipat, and Samrat Prithviraj made him a household name after that. His most recent film role was in the just-released Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Bali was a producer who had received a National Award.
