BTN News: A truck driver from the United States is being called a hero. He found and saved a one-year-old child. The child was left near a Louisiana highway for almost two days.
Reginald Walton shared his amazing story with a TV station. While driving along Interstate 10, he saw what he thought was a doll in a ditch. As he drove past, he saw it move and acted fast.
Walton stopped his truck and walked almost a kilometer back to the ditch. To his surprise, he found the moving object was a baby boy. Walton quickly called the police. They had been looking for the child since the day before. They started searching after finding the body of the child’s four-year-old brother in a lake.
Investigators said the two kids were last seen with their mom, Aaliyah Jack, 25, on Saturday, July 6. Jack was later caught in Mississippi. They believe the baby was outside for nearly two days with no food or care. The police think it is a miracle the baby survived that long.
Walton said he does not feel like a hero. He told the TV station, “I just believe it was God’s will for me to be in the right place at the right time.”
Aaliyah Jack is now facing serious charges. These include second-degree murder and cruelty to a child. The police are still looking into what happened.
This brave and quick-thinking act shows how important it is to be aware and kind in our communities. Walton’s actions saved a life and brought hope in a sad situation. The police continue to investigate. They want justice for the lost four-year-old and to keep the rescued child safe.
The community has come together, offering support and prayers for the young child. Walton’s actions remind us that one person’s courage and kindness can make a big difference.
