TMC calls disciplinary committee meeting to remove Partha Chatterjee

Bright Times News: In response to Trinamool Congress leaders demands that arrested West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee be expelled, the party called a meeting on Thursday evening.

TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, has scheduled the meeting for 5 p.m. at the party headquarters in Kolkata.

The meeting took place just hours after TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh demanded Chatterjee’s removal from the cabinet and expulsion from the party in the aftermath of the recovery of nearly Rs 50 crore in cash from properties attached to him.

Partha Chatterjee should be removed from all ministry and party positions immediately. He should be kicked out. If it is discovered that this statement is false, the party has the right to remove me from all posts. “I will continue as a @AITCofficial (TMC) soldier,” Ghosh tweeted at 9:52 a.m.

Following that, he told reporters, “He (Parth Chatterjee) is explaining why he is resigning from his ministerial position. Why isn’t he announcing publicly that he is innocent and has no ties to Arpita Mukherjee? What stops him? I have complete confidence in Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, and I am confident that they will make the correct decision.

TMC spokesperson Debangshu Bhattacharya, whose song ‘Khela hobe’ launched the TMC’s 2021 election campaign, also demanded Chatterjee’s dismissal. “As a member of the party, I believe we do not deserve this public humiliation because of one person.” The party’s leadership should look into this and expel him.”

Ghosh tweeted at 11:45 a.m. that he was deleting the previous tweet and that it was his personal opinion. “In my previous tweet, I expressed my opinion. The party has now raised the issue. Avishek Banerjee has scheduled a party meeting for 5 p.m. today at TMC Bhawan. I’ve also been invited to that meeting. As a result, because @AITCofficial brought it up, I am removing the individual (sic),” he said.

The demand for Chatterjee’s removal comes as the opposition BJP and CPI (M) attack the Trinamool Congress for failing to take action against him even though a large sum of money was recovered from the properties attached to him. TMC leaders have expressed concern about public sentiment toward cash and gold recovery. Ghosh said on Wednesday that Chatterjee was an “insult” to the party and a “shame for all of us.”
