Normalcy restored on Blue Line after partial shutdown for a long time

Disruptions related to ongoing accessibility work at the Édouard-Montpetit station are forcing STM to close several stations on the Blue Line of the Montreal Metro for most of Sunday.

At around 9:15, STM indicated that service had finally resumed as normal.

The stations in question were previously supposed to be accessible again at 7pm on Sunday, but early in the evening, the transport agency decided to keep them closed until further notice.

“We are behind schedule in the progress of the planned work and are forced to close the stations”, indicates STM in a tweet.

Edouard-Montpetit station will become the 27th station to be universally accessible; This number is expected to increase to 30 by 2025.

The work included, among other things, the addition of two lifts, the extension of the entrance hall, the addition of a staircase and two new reception lines.
