Bright Times News: It’s not uncommon for filmmakers to use certain actors as lucky mascots. Karan Johar once cast Kajol and Rani Mukerji in cameo roles in his films because he believed they were lucky for the success of the films. Sanjay Leela Bhansali referred to actor Raza Murad as his lucky mascot and cast him in his most recent film, Gangubai Kathiawadi, for a single scene.
Kiara Advani, on the other hand, is proving to be a lucky charm for several filmmakers. In her eight-year career, she has already had seven hits, including two web shows produced by Karan Johar, Guilty, and Lust Stories. The actor has earned Rs 887.14 crore from his five theatrical releases.
“She is a lucky mascot that Dharma Productions has,” KJo said of Kiara during the trailer release of his most recent production, Jug Jugg Jeeyo, adding, “My journey with her began with Lust (Stories), and then she became an absolute must.” Everything we’ve done with her has been enormously successful.” Even Kiara’s Jug Jugg Jeeyo co-star Varun Dhawan referred to her as a “lucky charm” on The Kapil Sharma Show.
Kiara responded to their statements by saying that while being called a “lucky charm” is “lovely,” she would not have survived if she hadn’t been talented. However, both Karan and Varun’s statements are supported by her films’ box office performance. When it comes to blockbusters, her filmography and box office collection show that she has the Midas touch.
After an underwhelming debut in Fugly in 2014, Kiara starred in MS Dhoni – The Untold Story in 2016, and her success story began there. She plays Sakshi, the wife of former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, in the film, which is based on his life. The film opened with a double-digit opening (Rs 66 crore) and earned Rs 133.04 crore in the domestic market. The film’s worldwide gross surpassed Rs 200 crore.
She appeared in Karan Johar’s Netflix anthology Lust Stories in 2018, and she starred in the year’s biggest hit, Kabir Singh, in 2019. With total revenue of Rs 278.24 crore, the film became one of the highest-grossing films of the year.
In the same year, she co-starred with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh in Raj Mehta’s comedy-drama Good News, adding another hit to her list of successful films. In the Indian market, Karan Johar’s production earned Rs 205.14 crore.
With the year’s two biggest hits, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Kiara has already written the year 2022 in her name. The horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is said to have resurrected Bollywood after a dry spell at the box office.
It has made a profit of Rs 185.92 crore. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has benefited from Jug Jugg Jeeyo’s box office success. The film has collected Rs 84.80 crore in the domestic market and has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office.
