Jesús Sánchez’s Timely Hits Propel Marlins to Victory Over Braves

BTN News: The Miami Marlins ended their two-game losing streak by beating the Atlanta Braves 4-3 on Saturday. Right fielder Jesús Sánchez was the star of the game. He got five hits out of three at-bats, including two important doubles. One of these doubles won the game in the seventh inning. This victory was big for the Marlins as it ended the Braves’ four-game winning streak.

The game started with Atlanta taking the lead in the first inning. The Marlins’ pitcher, Kyle Tyler, had a tough beginning. Braves’ Matt Olson hit a single with two outs, allowing Jorge Soler, who had walked, to score. This gave the Braves an early advantage.

The Marlins fought back in the third inning. Jake Burger hit his 17th home run of the season, tying the score at 1-1. However, the Braves quickly regained their lead in the bottom of the same inning. Marcell Ozuna hit his 32nd home run of the season, putting Atlanta ahead again. Olson then hit another single, followed by Orlando Arcia walking and Travis d’Arnaud hitting a single, loading the bases. Eddie Rosario’s groundout brought in another run, making it 3-1 and ending Tyler’s night early. Tyler had a tough outing, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks in just 2 2/3 innings. He struck out two batters.

The Marlins showed their determination in the fifth inning. Holmes, the Braves’ pitcher, retired the first two batters, but then Nick Fortes and Xavier Edwards both got singles. Burger hit a single that drove in a run, followed by Sánchez’s double, tying the game at 3-3. Holmes was then taken out after pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, with one walk and four strikeouts.

The key moment came in the seventh inning. Pierce Johnson, the Braves’ pitcher who took the loss, immediately got into trouble. He allowed a single to Fortes and walked Edwards. Although Burger grounded into a double play, Sánchez hit a clutch double to left field, scoring Fortes and giving the Marlins a 4-3 lead.

Miami’s bullpen did a great job for the rest of the game. Declan Cronin, who was the winning pitcher, came in during the fifth inning and pitched two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Calvin Faucher closed out the ninth inning. Despite giving up a single to Jarred Kelenic, he struck out Whit Merrifield and Soler, earning his first save of the season and the second of his career.

This win showed the Marlins’ ability to take advantage of key moments and perform under pressure. Jesús Sánchez played a big role with his important hits. Jake Burger also helped with his home run and run-scoring single. This victory highlighted the depth and determination of the Marlins’ lineup. It was a much-needed boost as they aim to build momentum in the latter part of the season. The Marlins’ resilience in this close game against a strong Braves team will boost their confidence moving forward.
