Bright Times News: In his final match before the next ICC World T20 2022, Indian captain Rohit Sharma recorded a forgettable result on Tuesday. The veteran Indian captain was looking to continue his streak of prolific scoring in the third and final T20I of the recently finished series between India and South Africa after playing a scorching knock against Temba Bavuma-led side in Guwahati.
But speed ace Kagiso Rabada halted Rohit in his tracks as the star batter even failed to score in the dead rubber match between the two sides at Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium. Indian captain Rohit, who has scored the most runs in T20I history, was run out for a duck in the high-scoring match against South Africa, writing an unfavorable record.
On the second ball of India’s inning in Indore, Rohit was given the boot. With an inswinger, Rabada outsmarted Rohit and gave him a terrible record in the game’s shortest format.
Rohit scored the tenth duck of his stellar T20I career when he was dismissed for nothing in the dead rubber match against South Africa. It’s interesting to note that this was the 43rd time in T20I cricket that the Indian captain was dismissed with a score of under ten.
The Indian captain has scored more single-digit runs than any other hitter in T20I history. On Sunday, Rohit scored his record-tying 43rd single-digit score in men’s T20Is, passing Kevin O’Brien of Ireland. O’Brien has 42 single-digit scores to his name whereas Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh has played 40 subpar T20I cricket innings. Other names on the list include Mohammad Nabi (39), and Shahid Afridi (37).
Tim Southee’s extraordinary accomplishment of dismissing Rohit the most times in international cricket has been matched by Rabada, who defeated Rohit in the first over. In the history of international cricket, Rohit has been eliminated 11 times by Rabada and Southee.
